High Chair FAQ

Q. At what age should you shop for a high chair?

A. While most high chairs are used for when baby starts taking solid foods, many high chairs can be used from infancy with a bouncer attachment or that reclines to be used as a rocker or lounge chair. Some of our favorite high chairs that have multi-usage or that can be used earlier than the first bite, are the Stokke Tripp Trapp, Mima Moon 2G, and the Maxi-Cosi Minla high chairs.

Q. What is a Booster Seat?

A. Traditional Booster Seats for feeding are exactly how it sounds: it is a seat or pad that is set on top of the dining chair to give your child a “boost” to reach tabletop height for feeding. This is typically still used in restaurants or for the on-the-go situation. Our favorite portable booster seat is the ultra-slim Bombol Booster Seat. Bombol’s booster is as slim as a book when folded. The Rialto by Peg Perego is a classic as well when looking for a portable booster with a tray option.

More recently, the term Booster Seat can also mean Toddler Car Seat for children over 4 years of age. See our selection of Booster Car Seats here.

Q. Is it safe to use an old high chair?

A. Unlike car seats, high chairs do not have an industry set expiration. However, similar to car seats, safety standards can change over time. Please check with the manufacturer on your specific model when in question OR simply check out our selection of high chairs here for if you are ready for an upgrade.

Q. Should a high chair have a footrest?

A. While not necessary, a footrest provides comfort for a child.

Q. At what age do you move your child from a high chair to a table booster seat?

A. Boosters are a great travel-friendly solution, but at home, high chairs like the Tripp Trapp and the Evomove Nomi High Chair can accommodate your child into their teenage years.
